The Effect of Ephedrine Infnsion for Anesthesia of Repeat Elective Cesarean Section

Abstract
Maternal hypotension during spinal anesthesia for cesarean section may significantly decrease placental blood. flow, causing fetal hypoxia, acidosis and neonatal depression.
To prevent these grim events methods of left uterine displacement, prehydration, intramuscular injection of ephedrine, intravenous injection of ephedrine are employed, but despite these measures. hypotension is encountered about 50?802 of mothers.
Author selected 20 healthy paturients undergoing elective repeat cesaran section under spinal anesthesia, infused ephedrine sulfate intravenously for prophylaxis of maternal hypotension and compared the effects with intravenous bolus injection.
The results were as follows,
1) In patients given the infusion, systolic blood pressure did not change significantly (p>0.1) and reactive hypertension did not occured.
2) Compared to bolus injected group, nausea and vomiting occured less frequently in infused group.
3) Apgar score, umbilical venous blood gas tension were similar between two groups.
